The Japanese-bred rose ‘Aube’ is a highly popular, valued for its exceptional beauty, rich fragrance and durability.
It is a shrub rose that can be grown either as a free-standing bush or trained as a small climbing rose. It is repeat-flowering and blooms almost continuously throughout the season.
The flowers display a unique combination of colours. The petals are pink with an apricot-toned centre, subtle pink undertones and creamy transitions on the reverse. The exact colouring may vary depending on weather conditions, temperature and light levels.
The blooms are fully double and may be cup-shaped, hemispherical or rosette-shaped. They are medium to large, usually measuring approximately 8–12 cm in diameter. Each flower contains a large number of petals, typically between 41 and more than 100.
The fragrance is very rich and strong, with distinctive notes of Damask rose and myrrh, sometimes accompanied by subtle fruity nuances. The flowers retain their shape for a long time, making them particularly suitable for cutting and floral arrangements.
The bush is dense, well-branched and relatively compact, with upright or gently arching shoots. Depending on growing conditions and training, it can reach approximately 100–180 cm in height. The foliage is dark green, glossy and dense.
‘Aube’ has very good resistance to most common rose diseases and offers high frost resistance. It tolerates rain well and also performs impressively in both heat and partial shade.
This variety is excellent for cutting and creating bouquets. In the garden, it can be planted as a specimen rose or used in group plantings. It is also suitable for growing in large containers.
