If fragrance is what you are looking for in a rose, you may not miss Palais Biron®, a stunning rose variety from France introduced in 2000 which is sold under English name Purple Lodge. Its strong damask perfume includes a little bit of santal wood and fruity citrus tones and will leave you speechless. Make sure to wait until a warm and sunny day with no wind to enjoy its depth as on other days the flowers release very little scent.

Medium sized flowers are about 7 cm across, deep purple violet, and open into a tea-hybrid shape at first, changing to a fully double flower when mature. They appear continuously from June until the first frost. Leaves are large, medium green and partly glossy, usually very healthy, and semi-evergreen in mild winters. The plant grows dense with upright, strong branches creating a dense shrub or a dense crown on a half-standard tree. Bred by Pierre Orard and named after a luxurious 19th century baroque-renaissance villa in Baden-Baden, Germany, slightly copying a style of Hotel Biron in Paris from early 18th century.
